Day 31

Picture from the day 31 LinkedIn post

A prompt is simply a way of communicating with Generative AI.

If the instructions are vague, the output will be vague.
If the instructions are clear, the output becomes much more useful.

• Give context.
• Define the output.
• Explain both what you want and how you want it.

Use the right prompting technique for the problem:

• Zero-shot prompting: Ask directly when the task is simple.
• Few-shot: Give examples when you want a specific style or format.
• Chain-of-Thought: Break reasoning into steps for complex problems.
• Generated Knowledge: Provide relevant information so the model has better context.
• Least-to-Most: Solve one small problem at a time before tackling the whole problem.
• Self-Refine: Ask the model to review and improve its first answer.
• Maieutic prompting: Ask the model to explain its reasoning and verify its conclusions.

My takeaway:
• A good prompting is built on clear communication most importantly improving own thinking.
